Oğuz Kaplangı is a British–Turkish composer, sound designer and producer based in Edinburgh, known for creating atmospheric, cross-genre music for film, television, theatre and contemporary projects. His work blends various music styles and experimental elements, often integrating textured sound design with strong narrative intent. Over more than two decades, he has developed a distinctive voice rooted in curiosity, collaboration and a deep interest in the emotional possibilities of sound.

Oğuz’s theatre work has been widely recognised across the UK and internationally. He has composed for major companies including the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Traverse Theatre, Bristol Old Vic and many others. His score for Ionesco’s Rhinoceros received the Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) for Best Music and Sound.

His screen compositions range from feature film scores to music for advertising campaigns, documentaries and television series. In addition to bespoke scoring, Oğuz is an experienced producer and music supervisor, with a catalogue of library and production music that has been used widely in international broadcast, documentary and commercial contexts.

Oğuz is also the co-founder of Elec-Trip Records, an influential independent label established in Istanbul, and the curator of the acclaimed Istanbul Calling compilation series. His work across electronic, alternative and cross-cultural music has contributed to a distinctive catalogue that continues to evolve through international collaborations and experimental recording projects.
